Where is good accomodation in Pai, Thailand?

Pai is a very quite and laid-back town in northern Thailand. It's a great place to base yourself for a few days of exploration by motorbike. Rent one and cruise along the quite country roads, past lush jungle and vibrant green rice paddies, and explore small villages that dot the countryside.

There are a few guesthouses in the central part of town, but I enjoyed staying at right on the banks of the Pai River.  There are many down there to choose from and the one that I was at was called Baan Tawan and was about 125B for a single room on the second level of a two storey guesthouse. Also on the second level was a nice deck with plenty of pillows spread around the floor for relaxing with a good book.

If you get on the road that leaves Pai towards the Hot Springs, it's the last right turn BEFORE the bridge that takes you over the Pai River - go down the little alleyway and it's on your left (they still might have the billiards table out front!)

More details about Pai and the surrounding areas can be found in Rice Crust from the Bottom of the Pot.
