Why am I doing the Sterling Fusion Ion2 Review? I'm looking to find a durable, light rope for long alpine climbs. What is the Sterling Fusion Ion2? With
fast and light becoming more and more fashionable in the alpine climbing
world, we look for lighter and lighter gear to support those goals. With
rope often being one of the heaviest single pieces of equipment, it's
especially important to carefully choose wisely in this department. The
Sterling Fusion Ion2 climbing rope seems to strike a balance between
thickness and weight that makes it one to look at closely as a top
contender.
In
Sterling's words: "The Ion
has been made better! Now known as the Ion2, it still has a unique
construction and different than any rope on the market. This new design
gives the rope a UIAA fall rating of 5 and its impact force goes from
8.6kN to 8.1kN. The diameter measures in at 9.4mm now and we were able to
drop 3 grams per meter, making the Ion2 only 57 grams per meter."
I'm excited put the Sterling Fusion Ion2 to work! Stay
tuned! |
